Does your school discuss sexual assault? If not why do you think they don't?

NO MY SCHOOL DOESN'T EVEN MENTION THE TERM SEXUAL ASSAULT. I DONT THINK THAT THE TEACHERS ARE EDUCATE ENOUGH TO DISCUSS IT WITH THE CLASS. THEY PROBABLY WOULDN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO SAY ABOUT SEXUAL ASSAULT

No they don't, and I personally wonder why they don't. I have tried to raise awareness in my school, but it's not an easy thing to do. But I'm in a human rights club, and we discuss it all the time, and we are trying to have a sexual abuse "night" where we discuss it.

No my school does not discuss the topic. I think that the teachers at my school would have trouble with mentioning the topic because they also might have been victims themselves or they may feel insecure about talking to students about it. I don't understand why this is not openly dicussed because it is something that is definately happening and more people need to be aware of what is going on.

It came up in one of my classes in grad school, but i think that's b/c my professor is a woman who cares a lot about "women's issues." I think it's not mentioned in h.s. b/c many adults freak out if they have to talk to young ppl about anything sex-related. If we relied on them to speak on it, nothing would be said. We have to be the ones to speak. It's okay to talk about sexual assault and it's okay to talk about sex.

Yes, I think schools should offer a class for anyone who like to attend and share their thoughts and idea. The might help someone in a time of need.

My school does not talk about sexual assult, i guess its because they figure that it is not an important issue.Another reson could be that they dont want to raise a contraversal topic and they might not be able to handel the questions or comments that the students may have.

when I was in college sexual assault was a big topic on campus. Maybe it was because I went to a women's college. In my sophomore year, there was a string on rapes at a nearby campus and there was a lot more organizing by students to raise awareness and teach safety than there was by some of the campuses. I think people downplay sexual assault and crime in general at schools to keep people from getting too alarmed or upset, but at the same time they do a disservice to everyone by not fully addressing a real problem.

No my school does not talk about sexual assualt, which I think shouldn't be the issue because it is reality it does happen and I feel if they can talk about things like AIDS then they can talk about being assualted as well.

No my school doesn't discuss sexual assault maybe the don't have a teacher to do it, or people just aren't thinking about making this available to the students.

the subject never came up as official classroom dicussions. I believed it should be at least part of the health-ed curriculm if nothing else. it was talked about in our school off the books only because there were a few teachers during my 4 yrs in HS that were suspected of stagetory rape (some of which were confirmed and convicted).
